2014 Waiters Race recognizes service excellence
Hong Kong is the top destination for visitors in Asia. In 2013, the number of visitors from around the world received by Hong Kong exceeded 54 million, an increase of 11.7% over 2012.
Hong Kong could receive 70 million tourists annually within three years and 100 million within a decade, mostly from the mainland, according to Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Gregory So Kam-leung.
Hong Kong is definitely unique with its charm, energy, and internationalism. One of the attributes that make the metropolis unique is its high standard of service and hospitality in the hotel sector.
Numerous Hong Kong hotels have won accolades and awards around-the-world for its outstanding service. To this end, the Waiters Race which has resumed in Hong Kong since 2007 pays tribute to such professional service.
“The city’s level of hospitality industry sophistication is the envy of the world and a perpetual gold standard. The Waiters Race is a meaningful event. It is designed to recognize service excellence. Similar events are also held around the globe,” said Mr Victor Chan, the Chairman of the Hong Kong Hotels Association.
The 2014 Waiters Race will take place on November 9 2014 (Sunday) at Aldrich Bay Hong Kong.
Over 30 hotels and hotel group will be participating in this year’s Race. There will be the Waiters Race – relay and the Waitresses Race – relay. In addition, there will be the Executive Races as well – both males and females. Rounding up the day will be the Cheerleading Competition amongst hotels.
“The Hong Kong Hotels Association and the Hong Kong Tourism Board are proud to support this year’s Races. The Races are tremendous fun but also highly competitive. Participants from the hotels take this Race very seriously. We hope that through this Race we show both locals and visitors alike our commitment to exemplary service whilst achieving a sense of camaraderie amongst participating hotels,” said Mr Victor Chan.
